Dr. Altman was born and raised in the Midwest. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Ohio State University in 1994 with a major in Psychology and a minor in Family Relations & Human Development. Dr. Altman received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2004. She has had a multitude of clinical experiences working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
As part of her graduate training, Dr. Altman worked at a university counseling center, outpatient family therapy clinic, VA hospital, and children’s hospital. She also was one of 12 therapists from her graduate school who went to ground zero after 9-11 to conduct brief art and play therapy for the children and teens who lost loved ones from the terrorist attacks.
Dr. Altman completed her internship at Children’s Hospital of Orange County and her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto, California. Following this, Dr. Altman worked as the Program Director and Primary Therapist at the Center for Discovery, a well-respected, nationally known treatment program for adolescents and adult women with eating disorders. Dr. Altman facilitated the opening of the first Northern California and Washington facilities. She worked as the Program Director and Therapist for over 7 years before transitioning into the role of Regional Clinical Supervisor, overseeing and providing supervision to members of the counseling and clinical staff.
Dr. Altman currently has a general practice seeing clients of different ages an on varying issues. She enjoys working with individuals and couples in order to help them feel better and work through thier struggles and difficulties.
Dr. Altman has practiced as a licensed Psychologist in both California and Washington.
